“Tip the world over on its side and everything loose will land in
Los Angeles.”
- Frank Lloyd Wright
Los Angeles is the most magical place on Earth. It draws people of a certain kind to its glamouring lights, and silhouette palm trees against a pink sunset nestled between the mountains and the ocean. Tourists come and go, but the ones L.A. keeps for herself are the free spirits, the artists and progressive thinkers, who else would want to live in a crowded dirty-paradise called
“La-La Land?”
L.A. is and always will be the heart of the entertainment industry. In the 80’s, Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood was the main hub for musicians and artists. Many bands came from the Sunset Strip. If you ever wanted to know what the Sunset Strip was like in the 80’s, it was the core-center for glam rock, heavy metal and punk rock in the 1980’s. Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, W.A.S.P., Poison, Quiet Riot, Dokken, L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat,Mötley Crüe and Ratt are just a few of the bands that came from L.A. Imagine walking down Sunset Boulevard and feeling the energy and music coming from the nightclubs and restaurants in Hollywood, like the Whisky a Go-Go, the Roxy, the Rainbow Bar and Grill, or Gazzarri’s. You would have felt the excitement in Hollywood, spawning the next big rock group who will take music to the next level, maybe the next iconic stand-up comedian or creators of art who will change the way we look at the world.
This section is dedicated to the bands, clubs, fans, service industry workers and people of Los Angeles/Hollywood/K-town/East Hollywood/Venice Beach/Santa Monica/DTLA/Boyle Heights. You are the place we will always love. We didn’t get to ride in long black cars but we have stories of when we slept on the beach underneath the stars. When we were high as the stratosphere on Sunset Bl. and we caught an applause at one of your clubs. We didn’t know what would happen and then we were on T.V. Just being with you makes me happy.
Every week, we feature bands from Hollywood's Sunset Strip. Glam rock, heavy metal and hard rock from the 80's!
