The Official Station for 80's Rock & Heavy Metal
Its 2021 and one of the best 80s rock bands, GNR has a new song! It’s been 13 years since Guns N’ Roses has put out new music, and this has been a long-anticipated track. The song is called “Absurd.” It is a remake of an older, previously non-released track called, “Silkworms” the band wrote back in 2001. The song has an edgy industrial sound to it, but it’s still hard-core Guns N’ Roses! After everything that has been going on with the pandemic, it’s refreshing to see an iconic 80s rock band with longevity bring their fans new music.
Another rock legend passed away this week, Dusty Hill of ZZ Top. Recently in the past couple of years, a lot of my favorite rock bands from the 80’s are gone. Eddie Van Halen, Neil Peart of Rush, Vinnie Paul of Pantera, Jeff LaBar of Cinderella, and the latest death, Dusty Hill. As a teenager in the 80’s, I would listen to these bands on the local rock radio stations, watch their videos on MTV, read about them in rock publication magazines and had the impression that they were bigger than life, demi gods, immortals. Even though these rock legends are gone, I am grateful we still have their music that will always live forever.
Iron Maiden is the ultimate heavy metal band that has been blading their hard-core sound since 1975. This fall, September 2021, Iron Maiden will release their 17thstudio album, Senjutsu. I’m always in anticipation when I know Iron Maiden is coming out with a new album, since I became I fan in the early 80’s. The first single from the album, “The Writing on the Wall” was released earlier this month. The song is more hard rock than heavy metal. Hopefully this album will not disappoint true Maiden fans, who have come to expect that intense Iron Maiden sound the band has created
the past few decades.

Cinderella guitarist Jeff LaBar passed away Wednesday July 14 at the age of 58. As of this post, no cause of death has been released. Several other media organizations have reported, “Jeff had gone off the grid the past few days, with friends and family unable to reach him, his ex-wife went to his apartment in Nashville, and that’s when she found Jeff dead.”
Yes is coming out with their 22nd studio album, The Quest. The album is set to release on October 1, 2021. This will be the first album without any of the founding members. The album will have 11 tracks spanning a 2-disc set due to the duration of some of the songs. Yes has been putting out music spanning generations since 1968, and this latest album will bring in the new sound of Yes, with Jon Davison on lead vocals, Geoff Downes on keyboards, bassist Billy Sherwood, guitarist Steve Howe who has been with the band since 1970, and legendary drummer Alan White who joined Yes in 1972.
Pre-orders for the album begin July 23 by InsideOutMusic/Sony
